According to Google’s official help, after Keep reminders moved to Google Tasks you can no longer create or receive location-based reminders. We describe the state as of 28 October 2026.
What does Google’s help say?
According to Google’s help, Keep reminders move to Google Tasks in the second half of 2025. New reminders are saved as tasks, and you can view, edit, and mark them done in Calendar, Gemini, Keep, and Tasks. You can no longer create or receive location-based reminders.
A Google post of 25 April 2024 announced the move. We give no exact rollout date because the official help names only the second half of 2025.
What happened to an old location reminder?
To find the details of an old location reminder, open the Tasks app, select the reminder moved from Keep, and check its description. Moved reminders also appear in the Calendar grid and in the task list, marked as coming from Keep.
- One-time reminders older than a year go to a separate list of old Google Keep reminders.
- The limit is 100,000 tasks. When it is exceeded, the oldest ones are not moved.
- Repeating is possible at most every 1000 days, weeks, months, or years.
- On your phone, Keep notifications no longer arrive. Install Calendar or Tasks and allow notifications.
- On work and school accounts reminders do not move when the Tasks service is off or the licence is suspended. If your organisation allows Google Takeout, you can export them before they are deleted.
Which reminders remain?
Keep’s help still describes timed reminders: with a date, a time, and repeating. On your phone, notifications about moved reminders come from Calendar or Tasks. Tasks has reminders with a date and time, a due date, and repeating every day, week, month, or year. Without a time the notification arrives at 9:00.
According to Google Assistant help, you can no longer set tasks for a specific location. Tasks for a time remain, along with routines at some locations.
Where else can I look for location reminders?
Location-based reminders are described by the official pages of Apple (Reminders on iPhone), Todoist, and Any.do. We collected their requirements, plans, and limits in the guide “Location reminders compared across phone apps”. In those apps you set the place and the text of the reminder yourself.
How is DOBIERO different from Keep reminders?
DOBIERO does not replace Google Keep. You do not set your own reminders or shopping lists in it. The app suggests which app or service you may use at a nearby place and leaves the decision to open it to you.
How current is this information?
Google’s help pages carry no dates, and Polish translations may be machine-made. The Polish version of the page about the move from Keep differs from the English one: it mentions the Settings app where the English version mentions the Tasks app. If something does not match, check the English version.
