You set a location reminder yourself: you choose a place, and your phone reminds you when you arrive or leave. We describe what the manufacturers’ official pages say (as of 28 October 2026), without judging which solution is better.

Apple Reminders (iPhone)

  • A location option lets you choose a suggested place or a custom one, then whether to be notified on arrival or on leaving, and the size of the area.
  • Location Services must be on. For Reminders, Apple requires “While Using the App” and Precise Location turned on.
  • Siri accepts commands such as “when I get home”. Home and work need addresses on your own contact card.
  • Mac: according to the Mac guide, the reminder returns on every arrival or departure until you mark it done. You must turn on Location Services on each device.
  • The guide notes that all the features it describes work with upgraded iCloud reminders. Whether a location reminder itself needs iCloud, the pages do not specify. Apple’s help does not say whether the feature works offline.

Google: Keep, Tasks, and Assistant

Location-based reminders from Keep can no longer be created or received, and Tasks has timed and repeating reminders. The guide “Google Keep: location reminders are gone” has the details. According to Google Assistant help, you can no longer set tasks for a specific location either.

Samsung Reminder (Galaxy)

We did not find a Polish Samsung help page for this feature. An English Samsung guide of 5 October 2022 describes setting a reminder for a place: choosing “Place”, an arrive or leave condition, and searching for the place, while “Every time” reminds you at every visit. The Galaxy Store description says the app reminds based on time, place, and situation. According to Samsung’s One UI 8 page (26 February 2026), the buttons under the text field add lists, locations, and images, so the names in the 2022 guide may differ. The official pages do not give the required location permission level or the One UI version.

Microsoft To Do

Microsoft’s help describes timed reminders and due dates with a repeat cycle. It does not mention location-based reminders, but a missing mention is not proof, so we do not decide it. The help also notes that place alerts from Samsung Reminder are not visible in the To Do app.

Todoist

  • A reminder on arrival or departure. On iOS you change the radius by dragging the circle on the map.
  • According to the help, the feature is marked as available in the Pro and Business plans on iOS and Android. Notifications arrive on your phone only, but you can also set them up in the web and desktop versions.
  • Permissions on iOS: location access while using the app, precise location, “Alerts & Shortcuts Automations” turned on in System Services, and Time-Sensitive Notifications. On Android: all the time or only while using the app.
  • Location reminders arrive as ordinary notifications.

Any.do

  • According to the help, the feature is in the Premium plan, and in Family and Workspace (in the personal space), only in the Android or iOS app.
  • You choose “When I arrive” or “When I leave”. A task has either a timed or a location reminder. It reminds again on later arrivals or departures while the task is open. You can save favourite places.
  • According to the help, the iOS app requires “Always” access and Precise Location, and the Android app background location and high accuracy. The manufacturer’s page also contains recommendations about battery settings.
  • Detection relies on your phone’s location services, and a weak connection can delay the notification.

What do these solutions have in common?

In Apple Reminders, Todoist, Any.do, and Samsung Reminder (as described), you choose the place and the text yourself, and the reminder depends on your phone’s location and permissions. For Samsung the official pages do not give the required location permission level. In the sources we checked, manufacturers do not directly describe the battery impact of location reminders.

How is DOBIERO different from these apps?

In the apps above you set the place and the text of the reminder yourself. DOBIERO works differently: you do not set your own reminders or shopping lists in it, and the app suggests which app or service you may use at a nearby place. If you want to set your own reminder for a place, you need an app with that feature, such as one of those described above.
